YOGA

Yoga is an ancient practical and comprehensive system for living a better life. Yoga not only brings deep understanding & awareness to our physical body, it also brings clarity and calmness to our mind so that we are able to connect with our true potential and enjoy our lives more fully.
Yoga is not a religion. Each student can pick and choose which parts work for them. However, it can bring an emotional and spiritual element to your life by insisting that you focus on the present moment.
It is suitable for all ages and you do not need to be strong or flexible to practice yoga. Each person's yoga practice will be different due to anatomy, lifestyle and goals.
Yoga will enhance your life by
[ helping you to manage stress & foster balance between life and work
[ improving your health, flexibility and range of motion
[ increasing your energy, body awareness & sense of peace... to read more

I am passionate about sharing yoga with others because it has changed my life and my practice continues to get deeper. At first I practiced because it made me feel good physically, but the more I learn about yoga the more I see how the practice connects with every aspect of my life. It makes me a better person and helps me to appreciate my life the way it is, moment by moment.
Life is always changing, so it is so important to strive to stay connected to our unchanging core, our true selves, so that we may accept the fluctuations of life with equanimity.
My classes creatively fuse the essence of classical Indian hatha yoga with Tibetan Buddhist traditions and Chinese energy practices in order to create an atmosphere where students can awaken to their inner teacher, be led towards healing and create a flexible and peaceful body, mind and spirit.
I am a Yoga Alliance certified teacher of Yin Yoga and classical Indian Hatha yoga.
Whether you are a beginner or not, my classes will bring a personal approach to your practice. Because not all bodies are the same- through the process of feedback and open dialogue you will learn to modify each pose so that it best suits your body.
Yin Yoga [
Yin is a wonderful practice that everybody benefits from. This challenging and meditative practice will transform your more muscular ‘yang’ style of yoga or activity and give you the balance we so often seek in our active, busy lives. In fact, most forms of yoga practiced today are yang in nature as they focus on muscular movement, contraction and repetition. There is nothing wrong with that but it is only half of the equation. We also need to learn to relax, be patient, be quiet and release the tightness at the deeper levels of the skeleton and its joints. In Yin Yoga, postures target the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and lower spine and are held for a long time. This long hold allows the stagnant and deficient energy (prana) in the dense, rarely touched areas of the body to flow.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha is a systematic yoga practice that incorporates asanas (postures), pranayama (breath) and relaxation with the goal of building vitality, strength, flexibility and a focused, quiet mind. If you are new to yoga, private classes start at Level 1 which is 4 to 8 weeks in duration (depending if you choose to come once or twice a week). I will introduce the 12 core asanas, which we will build upon as your practice grows.

A friendly note to male students
Do you have an impression that yoga is not for you because it is a fluffy exercise for “hippies”, skinny lycra-crazed women, or flexible masochistic guys?

In a word... wrong

It is my experience with men from all walks of life (doctors, athletes, scientists...), that a regular yoga practice offers many benefits. Many have shared with me what yoga has done for them, including:

Injury prevention in sports and activities
Improved their relationships with others
Reduced their feelings of stress at work
Increased body awareness through proper breathing and
Diminished or eliminated pain in their joints, particularly the back, neck and knees.
Expanded their capacity to enjoy life moment to moment
Eliminated sleeping problems (insomnia)
Improved health (lower blood pressure, weight loss and depression)

This is your life- enjoy it and be well! I look forward to seeing you on the mat!

All levels are welcome
Join me every Wednesday for the complementary yoga practice to the more invigorating yoga styles (Ashtanga & Vinyasa Flow) and other activities (running, biking etc). In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to safely and effectively 'stress' and release the deep layers of connective tissue in the body (especially around joints, in the lower back, spine and hips). Yin Yoga nurtures energetic balance, opens the subtle energy channels to let energy (chi, prana, qi...) flow freely again and brings a profound sense of inner calm.
